North by Northwest (1959) directed by Alfred hitchcock is about a new york advertising executive called roger thornhill who is mistaken for a government agent george kaplan.
start of the film the music sounds busy which goes with what is happening in the scene which switches between lots of places to show loads of people.
when the man clicks his fingers the camera zooms in to two other men looking at the man.when he gets taken to the car by the two men the music sounds dark.

The Graduate
The Graduate (1967) directed by Mike Nichols is about a university graduate called benjamin who is seduced by an older women mrs robinson who is the wife of his fathers business partner.Benjamin and Mrs robinson have an affair which ends but then benjamin falls in love with her daughter Elaine.He tells elaine about the affair and she wants nothing more to do with him and goes off to university but he goes there to find her and they get back together until Mr robinson finds out about the affair and tells ben not to go near his daughter.He sends elaine away and she gets engaged to another man who her parents like. Ben drives miles to stop the wedding but she is married but that doesnt stop him he bangs on the window and shouts her name,she shouts his name back.There is a voilent struggle at the church but Ben and elaine manage to escaped together.
The graduate uses alot of different camera shots.we see a close up of Bens face to show the expression on his face.Then it zooms out to show where he is which is in an areoplane.Then there is a tracking shot of him walking with a suitcase we see him walking towards doors with windows in as if he is walking towards us.
Then we are taken to his room,when he is talking to his dad we can hear the fish tank and see it alittle bit.The fish tank links to how he is feeling like the fish just swimming around he is just going around not knowing what to do.
Then there is a tracking shot when he is walking around the house at the party his parents have done for him.There are close ups when people are talking to him and there is a medium close up when he is talking to a man outside we see people in the distance who want to talk to him. This makes us feel sorry for him as we know he just wants to be left alone.Then he goes back to his room and we can see him through the fish tank.
We can see that it is an old fashioned film when he opens the car door for mrs robinson when he has to drive her home.
When he is talking to mrs robinson in the bedroom it shows the back of his head to show the facial expression of mrs robinson.The camera goes from showing him to her to him when they are talking.
when he is in the car mrs and mr robinson are blurred in the background at doorstep.
Then we can hear clapping and man talking but cant see them then it shows Ben in a diver suit he walks acorss the floor with his noisy flip flops.we can see people through his helmet.he goes into the swimming pool which links back to the fish tank.

then we can hear him talking on the phone before seeing him.then we can see mrs robinson face through a table switches between her at table and ben at phone box.
They go to hotel room it goes dark which makes us know they have had sex.then he is lying in the pool.
then we see him lying in bed looking at tv women keeps walking past in different clothes representing different times.shows him lying on mrs robinson then it goes back to him lying on float in pool.
i really enjoyed this film.i thought it went abit slow at times but i thought the ending was worth the wait.

Fargo
Fargo directed and written by brothers Joel and Ethan coen is about a cars salesman called jerry from minneapolis who is in debt so he hires two hitmen to kipnap his wife so that her weathly father who doesnt like him can pay the ransom and he can get out of debt. no one is supposed to get hurt but people do get killed. Marge Gunderson investigates the murders.
At the start of the film non diegectic music is playing.it is quiet peaceful music then there are loud bangs when a car comes up over the snow and the music gets louder.music fades out with the car then theres a bang and onto the next scene.Then as the man walks into the bar country music is playing.when the three men are talking you can still har the music really quietly playing in the background.

Costume and make up is very important in films.Costume can tell you the age of the character,the time in which the film is set, what kind of film it will be. A character sometimes becomes identified with one look or costume for example in bedazzled Elizabeth Hurley who plays the devil always wears red clothes. Costume can show transformation in a character such as poor women into a rich one for example pretty woman.

Elephant
The film elephant is based on a true story about a massacre at a high school by two students.The film shows us what alot of different students are doing on the day of the shooting making us feel as though its just another normal day at school.
The film uses alot of tracking shots for example at the very start when there is a tracking shot on the car to make us keep watching it.It shows the car going down quite a peaceful neighbourhood where everything seems normal but then the car bumps into something.This hints at something bigger and bad to happpen.Then there is a guy taking pictures as he is walking into the distance he seems mysterious which makes us wonder what he is going to do with the pictures.This distrats us from what is really going to happen in the film.There is also another tracking shot when a guy wearing a red jumped is walking.The red jumper makes him stand out so when he is walking we focus on him.There is slow motion when he is walking when a girl mouths "he is so cute". This is so that we can tell what she is saying because we can not hear her say it as the guy with the red jumper can not hear her say it and we are following him around so we see what is around him and hear what he can as if we were actually walking behind him.
Throughout the film when we are introduced to a new character the names of the people are shown in white writing on a black background so it stands out and is easy to read.
One scene people go blurryin the background which makes you focus on the guy with the camera who goes into the dark room to get his pictures developed.when hes turning the boject with water inside it sounds like a clock or a bomb which gives clues that something bad is going to happen.
Then the film started to reply scenes but following a different person in the scene for example when it was following the guy with the red jumper it replayed the scene where the girl said "he is so cute" but instead of following him again it followed her and her friends.This is to show more about the other characters.
The film changes from the school and shows what happened leading up to the day.This happens when it shows the killer being treated badly by the people at his school.This is shown to try and make u understand why he did it.Another scene which leads up to the day is when the killer is in his bedroom.The pictures on the wall are dark with monster like creatures showing he has been turned into this evil person.
The camera zooms into his friend on the bed playing on the laptop which shows the consentration on his face then it shows what he is playing which is a shooting game.
Then it shows clouds in the blue sky making things look normal until you hear thunder and everything turns dark.
Film goes back to guy asking to take a picture of blonde guy but this time there blurred out as girl is running it wants you to focus on her.
There is a gun noise warning whats going to happen next.
Goes to the killers house but this time its the day of the shooting.It shows him having a shower and eating breakfast.Looks like an ordinary day.When guys are talking about what they are going to do it shows them doing it.There is a slow build up.
