Is cinema dead?

For cinema being dead:

  • Orange wednesdays two for one. They have to do a deal to get people to go to the cinema otherwise not as many people would go if the deal wasnt on.
  • The introduction of 3D shows that they have to do something which the audience cant experience at home
  • The internet-people saying they dont like the film on forums so people dont think its worth spending money to go watch it as they believe what they read.
  • Some films make more money on dvds than cinema for example the film waterworld
  • Average ticket price has risen by 7.7 per cent which shows not many people are attending the cinema so they have to raise the price to make money.in 2007 in america adverage ticket price for an adult was $10.37 and in 2008 $11.17.

    In 1946-31.5million attended

    1970s-1 million

    1990s-26.5 thousand to 38 million between 1996 and 2000

    2000-27 million
  • This shows not as many people are attending the cinema as they used to because in 1946 they wasnt as much to do as there is now.
  • Cinema banning people from bringing in food so they have to buy food in the cinema which cost too much so people wont want to go.
  • Also seeing the same stars everywhere may put people off watching a film.
  • lovefilm-this is where they send you a film and you send it back. This is cheaper than going to the cinema
  • website to download films are easy to access

    Against cinema being dead:
  • The introduction of 3D and special effects have got more people into the cinema because they cant get the same experience at home.
